In the Financial Times article, captioned "Flights of fancy: from urbane grandeur of Tempelhof to Singapore's indoor waterfall," Architecture Critic Edwin Heathcote looks critically at what distinguishes an airport and why - for him - there are five favorites. ⁠

For Changi Airport, Heathcote says "Its real attraction is that it works. Light, clear and airy, it is surely the template for these strange spaces of contemporary globalisation — the airport as entertainment rather than chore."⁠⁠
