Project Manager
Safdie Architects is looking for a strategic, dynamic, and thoughtful Project Manager with exemplary design sensitivities and organizational skills to join our architectural practice in Somerville, MA.
Within a highly collaborative environment, you will work directly with the firm’s Partners and project teams to support management and delivery of programmatically complex public and private projects across all scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing fee proposals and monitoring expenses to effectively manage project budgets and expenses
- Assessing deviations from project requirements and preparing revisions to fees and schedules
- Supporting the design team through meetings and reviews, both internally and externally
- Contributing solutions to complex design and technical challenges across the course of the project
- Collaborate with project consultants to coordinate technical requirements while preserving the design intent
- Working closely with the project team to develop and submit all design documents
- Supporting the preparation of design documents at each project stage
- Reviewing design documents at each project stage to protect adherence to the design intent and contractual obligations
- Support the client and design teams by contracting and/or onboarding key consultants
- Help facilitate communication and alignment within the project team, as well as between the project and client teams
- Travel to project sites to coordinate with local consultant and client teams
Prerequisites:
- Professional degree in Architecture
- 10 years’ professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years as a Project Manager
- Exemplary skills in organization, communication, and collaboration
- Authorization to work within the United States

Designers for Somerville, MA location. Prepare, plan, and design detailed drawings for projects, including mixed-use high-rise architecture development projects with a high estimated construction cost, Design large scale urban and housing projects and cultural projects. Create conceptual, schematic, and design development presentations, master planning and translate concepts to visual elements. Assist team to produce drawing sets, presentation materials, and physical models using model shop and fabrication tools, including a 3D printer, CNC router, and laser cutter. Prepare client ready, hyper realistic renderings and create multiple design options for clients. Work with team on project coordination and construction phases. Assist team to help coordinate publication and presentation materials production for presentations to clients using both physical and advanced visualization techniques. Tools: AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Rhino, Adobe Suite, rendering software (EnScape, Lumion, VRay, Twinmotion); renderings; graphic design skills; 3D design skills; data visualization; digital modeling, 3D tools (3D Max, 3D visualization, 3D renderings), Revit; BIM; ArcGIS.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field plus 3 years of experience as an Intern Architect/Designer required. Skills Required: experience designing US mixed use architecture development projects with an estimated construction cost of >$30M; working on large scale urban and housing projects and working on cultural projects; expertise preparing client ready, hyper realistic renderings; experience with AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and rendering software (EnScape, Lumion, VRay, Twinmotion); strong working knowledge of REVIT; expertise with project coordination and construction phase; strong 3D design skills and experience creating multiple design options; strong graphic design experience and skills for data visualization and high-level presentation production; excellent visual and verbal communication skills. $78,333/yr - $80,000/yr.
