Marketing Coordinator / Marketing Assistant

Safdie Architects is looking for an entrepreneurial, dynamic and thoughtful Marketing Coordinator / Marketing Assistant with exemplary design sensibilities and graphic skills to join their architectural practice in Somerville, MA.

Within a highly collaborative environment, you will work directly with the firm’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Partners, and project teams to share the firm’s work externally. As a key member of the marketing team the role offers an integrated mix of pursuit marketing, business development, and general communications.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Development and production of qualifications and proposals; interview and conference presentations;  short-run publications; look-books and other marketing collateral;
  • Maintenance and evolution of graphic design templates, guidelines and visual standards;
  • Coordination of the business development pursuits in close collaboration with the Director of Marketing and the firm’s Partners;
  • Support the planning of firm and project related announcements and events; 
  • Update the firm’s website with new projects and content;
  • Assist in the development of exhibitions and publications showcasing the firm’s work;

 

Our ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, engaging and fast-paced environment; is proactive, resourceful and self-motivated; enjoys developing visual designs and persuasive graphics; and has a personal interest or background in art, architecture or design. Prior experience within the AEC industry is preferred but not a requirement.

 

Prerequisites:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Art, Journalism, English or related field;
  • 2-5 years’ experience in marketing within an architecture or design firm;
  • Extreme proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop required;
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Open Asset, CRM, and video editing apps preferred;

Archives Intern

Safdie Architects is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented intern to work in our Somerville, MA office for the Spring 2026 semester. The position reports to the Archivist and focuses primarily on management of firm assets in analog and digital formats. 

The position start date is flexible, 10-20 hours per week, between 9 AM and 6 PM, Monday – Friday.

 

Duties  

  • Organize and inventory architectural drawings and project documentation.
  • Preserve, rehouse, and catalog archival material in various formats.

 

Other activities may include:

  1. Assisting with management and preservation of born digital records.
  2. Digitize and process collections, including original artwork, photographs (slides, negatives, prints), and architectural models.
  3. Apply standardized metadata using Adobe Bridge.
  4. Upload scans and metadata to our digital asset management system, OpenAsset.

 

Required Skills

  • Applicants must have the ability to work both on their own and directly with a supervisor, have excellent attention to detail in their work, be well organized, and be able to adjust with shifting office priorities, perform repetitive tasks, ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, willingness to perform physical tasks as well as focused data entry tasks
  • Coursework or experience with metadata creation, controlled vocabularies, preservation of archival material including paper, photographs, and A/V a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel required; Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Bridge preferred.

                                                                                                                                                       

Salary

$22/hour. Internship credit may be possible. For students working towards a master’s degree in library science with a focus in Archives Management, this is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a unique setting. Possibility to extend work into the summer and self-direct a research project of the intern’s choosing.
