Following a recent trip to Singapore in which she toured Safdie Architects’ newest projects—Surbana Jurong Campus and Boulevard 88 / The Singapore EDITION—writer Elizabeth Fazzare interviewed Moshe Safdie about the firm’s contributions to this “city in a garden”. Beginning in 1985 with the now-demolished Ardmore Habitat, Safdie Architects’ biophilic and energy-efficient designs have shaped Singapore’s identity and “helped give the city-state what is has long desired: visibility,” Fazzare noted.

"The whole idea of a green city was [former prime minister] Lee Kuan Yew’s pet project... There is a certain kind of national pride around it that’s fascinating."
