Architectural Designer

Safdie Architects is seeking talented designers with exceptional creativity and communication skills to join their design practice. The position requires experience in the production of concept, schematic and design development documents for large scale, programmatically complex public and private projects. The architectural designer will be involved on a project from concept through completion, working directly with Moshe Safdie and the firm’s Design Principals to develop and execute the design.
In addition to an aptitude for design and problem solving, candidates must be highly motivated and can work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Safdie Architects relies heavily on the building of physical models, the use of advanced digital design software and techniques, rapid-prototyping, etc. – candidates must have demonstrated skills in these areas.
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite and rendering software (EnScape, Lumion, VRay)
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of REVIT and experience with BIM preferred

Design Architect

Safdie Architects is seeking experienced architects with exceptional design, communication, and leadership skills to join their design practice. Design Architects work directly with Moshe Safdie and the firm’s Principals to develop design concepts and architectural ideas and are responsible for organizing and coordinating the efforts of all members of the design team across multiple projects concurrently. Given the diversity of the firm’s projects, with regards to project type, scale and geographic location, Design Architects need to be extremely nimble and be comfortable working within such diversity.

Candidates must be able to effectively supervise and lead teams of junior architects, have demonstrated experience developing and maintaining communication between architects and consultants and a strong knowledge of the design and detailing of complex projects. The position requires experience in the production of concept, schematic and design development documents for large scale, programmatically complex public and private projects. In addition to managing a team and being proficient with the tools of design, candidates need to be keen on being involved directly in the production of design studies, presentations, and drawings.

Associates

Safdie Architects, LLC seeks Associates to join their Somerville, MA studio. Associates a responsible to, under less supervision, prepare, plan, advance and design detailed architecture drawings for projects using their previously acquired experience in advancing designs. Masters in Architecture or a related field + 2 years experience is required. Skills required include, experience designing US and international public and private projects, large scale master planning and mixed use development projects with an estimated construction cost of >$50 million; experience advancing designs with less direction and supervision. 

Software skills required include, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, and rendering software (EnScape, Lumion, VRay). Additionally, candidates are required to possess excellent visual and verbal communication skills; strong working knowledge of REVIT modeling rational and complex geometries; high level skills in developing in-house renderings; experience in BIM.
