June 10, 2020: Two hundred and fifty meters in the air, at Raffles City Chongqing’s skybridge, an audience gathers for the premier of the New York Movie Awards Best Short Documentary, “Moshe Safdie: Another Dimension of Architecture”. The film offers an intimate account of Safdie’s approach to the design and construction of Raffles City Chongqing (RCCQ), China’s new 1,127,000 sqm multi-use destination. Located at the confluence of the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers, the project includes eight super structures, a retail podium with a multi-model transit hub, and an entirely reconceived transportation system. Bridging across four of the development’s towers is a 300-metre-long enclosed skybridge with over 10,000 sqm of amenities. Undergoing a phased opening, RCCQ is set to complete late 2020.
