Jaron Lubin presents at NC State University

Jaron Lubin, Senior Partner at Safdie Architects, was invited to speak at NC State University as part of the Robert P. Burns lecture series exploring contemporary architectural discourse. In his lecture, Lost in the Comments Section, Jaron examined how today’s digital landscape has impacted the way emerging designers engage with architecture.

He reflected on the opportunities and limitations of this new visual culture, emphasizing the need for a deeper, principle-based discourse to complement the flood of inspiration online. Drawing from the founding ideals of Safdie Architects and the legacy of Moshe Safdie, Jaron urged a return to the collective, utopian optimism that defined mid-20th century movements like CIAM, Team Ten, and the Metabolists. His talk challenged designers to embrace architecture not just as visual output, but as a tool for improving quality of life for all.
