David Orens has been a stalwart of Safdie Architects since joining in 2000. His extensive knowledge and experience in project management and delivery have been invaluable in the precise execution of many of the firm’s most technically demanding projects, including the United States Federal Courthouse in Springfield, Massachusetts; the National Campus for Archeology in Jerusalem; and the Habitat Qinhuangdao residential complex in China. Since 2014, he has also overseen the design and implementation of the firm's diverse body of work in Israel. As Principal, David will strategically direct many of the firm’s core practice areas including technical research, professional development, and project delivery quality control across our global projects.
“David is an experienced design thinker and a steward of design excellence who immerses himself in the art of building.” said Sean Scensor, Partner. “His promotion to Principal is well-deserved, reflecting his passion, skill, and relentless commitment to realizing exceptional projects for close to 25 years.”
Since joining Safdie Architects in 1998, Matt Longo has consistently displayed his exceptional depth of understanding of the design process and technical knowledge. His ability to translate design intent during the documentation and construction process has been evident in the careful shaping, tooling, and crafting of some of the company’s most technically and spatially complex cultural buildings, such as the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas; the Vancouver Public Library Roof Garden in Canada; and the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. As Principal, Matt’s ability to lead teams and build relationships that inspire the full support and confidence of clients and consultants through the most challenging projects will further expand his influence within the firm.
“Matt’s design intellect, technical proficiency, and strong capacity to lead and unify teams has been unwavering over his long tenure at Safdie Architects,” said Partner Chris Mulvey. “His meticulous attention to detail can be seen in each project he’s been involved with.”
Since joining the firm in 2021, Kristen Jackson has excelled in advancing the firm’s bespoke approach to operations and management across all levels and facets of the firm. She has demonstrated exceptional strategic thinking, and a nuanced understanding of both the firm’s history and it’s future trajectory, through her ability to distill and synthesize complex, intricate, and ever-changing content into actionable items. Her work within the firm has been invaluable for the continued expansion and excellence of the firm globally.
In her new role, Kristen will be responsible for leading and coordinating operations, including internal operations, business development, and client relations, working closely with the Partners and broader leadership team.
