Casey Mack, a contributor to Vertical Urbanism, asks Moshe Safdie about how the principles of Habitat continue to redefine what home, urbanism, and architecture can be, especially at the recently completed Habitat Qinhuangdao. Read the full conversation HERE.
“Qinhuangdao became a testbed. It was purely residential—no offices, no commercial program—which allowed us to really test the architectural logic. And it fit the site perfectly. The building sits right on the ocean, and the city was deeply concerned about megadevelopments blocking the view from behind. Our scheme offered something more porous, more respectful of its coastal setting.”
