Award | Marina Bay Sands Receives CTBUH 2021 10-Year Award of Excellence

Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat

CHICAGO, IL USA 20 MAY 2021 – The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat  (CTBUH) awarded Marina Bay Sands a 10 Year Award of Excellence, 2021. The Award recognizes proven value and performance over the last decade. The distinction culminated in a presentation by Partner Jaron Lubin - in conversation with George Tanasijevich, Managing Director at Marina Bay Sands and Managing Director Global Development at Las Vegas Sands Corporation - at the 2021 Tall + Urban Innovation virtual Conference held May 18 - 20.

"Marina Bay Sands is often cited for its technical merits, for its innovation, and for the sheer reason that it might be known as the most recognized and celebrated building of its type; and I say that because tall buildings, in a way, are a fairly young building type. With Marina Bay Sands, the creation of the Skypark (the bridge) was groundbreaking in the way it was constructed, designed, engineered, and invented from the architectural and urban design perspective." The CTBUH Annual Awards program recognizes projects and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. The awards program delivers a comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important buildings, spaces, and technologies, while advocating for improvements in every aspect of performance, especially those that have the greatest effect on their everyday users. “With nine new categories and Award of Excellence Winners from both 2020 and 2021 presented in an all-virtual format, this year’s Tall + Urban Innovation Conference is truly unlike any prior year in capturing the global urban landscape of today,” said Best Tall Building Jury Chair Karl Fender, Founding Partner, Fender Katsalidis Architects. “The international recognition of these outstanding projects not only encapsulates the innovation and ingenuity of the industry but demonstrates a vibrant and resilient vision of the future city.”

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is the world’s leading resource for professionals focused on the inception, design, construction, and operation of tall buildings and future cities.
