CHICAGO, IL USA 20 MAY 2021 – The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Best Tall Building Awards Jury has declared Raffles City Chongqing, Chongqing the winner of the Best Tall Building 300–399 Meters Award at the 18th Annual CTBUH Awards Program. This project competed for winning distinctions against 8 other projects in the category at the 2021 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference from 18 to 20 May, which took place virtually. Principal Christopher Mulvey joined Raffles City Chongqing General Manager, Goh Huan Tong, on the virtual stage to discuss the ideation, construction and impact of the ground-breaking mixed-use development. The building was recognized for its new multi-modal transit hub, and dramatic, amenity-rich skybridge that includes swimming pools, restaurants, greenery, and more.
Raffles City Chongqing was selected from the “Best Tall Building” track, which falls into five height thresholds: under 100 meters, 100–199 meters, 200–299 meters, 300–399 meters, and 400 meters and above. Additional categories include: Urban Habitat, Innovation, Renovation, Interior Design, and Construction, alongside five categories focused specifically on Engineering achievements. Notably new this year is an interactive Audience Awards program, where attendees cast their votes in each category. Over 104 jurors participated in the judging of 160 projects hailing from cities all over the world; this year, registered delegates could cast their own votes in real time alongside the jurors. Raffles City Chongqing was selected as Audience Choice for (1) Best Tall Building 300-399 Meters, (2) Structural Engineering, (3) Fire & Risk Engineering.

The CTBUH Annual Awards program recognizes projects and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. The awards program delivers a comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important buildings, spaces, and technologies, while advocating for improvements in every aspect of performance, especially those that have the greatest effect on their everyday users.
