Video | Designing for Community in Singapore

Women in Asia

Charu Kokate joins Women in Asia's series of exclusive interviews in support of TEDxNTU 2020: A World Reimagined. She touches on how Safdie Architects design for community. Charu describes her experience working with several collaborators and on site in Singapore during Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport.

"When you work on a project that is successful and accepted by the community, it's a victory. People think construction is stressful and that it's a compromise. It's not a compromise when its a win-win for all. Everybody who worked on Jewel Changi Airport- it is a win for them: the architects, the designers, the construction workers, the client, the site, the airport, and the country. "
