The Cherokee Heritage Center has received the 2026 WAFX Cultural Identity Prize. WAFX is an award program recognizing future projects that address major global issues including health, climate change, ethics and values, and community resilience.

Selected from the WAF Future Projects shortlist, the Cherokee Heritage Center was developed through a multi-year engagement with the Cherokee Nation. Its pavilions, moving water, native plantings, and cultural landmarks create spaces for learning, research, gathering, and belonging.

The project will be presented live at the WAF in Fort Lauderdale this fall.
