Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

"She loved the arts, and my mother, leaving me in charge of her foundation with just one sentence as a guidance, she said, 'Build a performing arts center.'"

Julia Irene Dennie-Kauffman, Chairman of the Board and daughter of the late Mrs. Muriel Kauffman, recalls her mother's request to create a performing arts center for the Kansas City, Missouri community. The "Kauffman Center Presents Mrs. K's Vision," created in collaboration with Hallmark Cards Inc., commemorates the story behind the design and creation of this world-class performing arts center and its achievements since its opening in 2011. Featuring Moshe Safdie on his approach to the center's architectural design, "Mrs. K's Vision" explores how her dream became a reality and continues to enrich the Kansas City community and visitors alike.

Completed in 2011, the center serves as a catalyst for social, educational, and economic vitality in the city and the region. The building links the Kansas City Live entertainment and Crossroads districts, bringing pedestrians back to the urban core. Visit the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts to learn more.
