Last week, the Pacific Library community gathered for the public unveiling of the design for the branch’s renovation. Safdie Architects Founding Partner Moshe Safdie and Principal Belinda Valenti joined collaborators from AYON Studio for the event.

The event, held at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, was led by Brooklyn Public Library President and CEO Linda E. Johnson.

“Today, we take an important step toward ensuring the Library continues to serve the community for another century," Johnson said. "Together, we are committed to honoring and preserving the history of the branch, while also imagining a modern space that inspires and uplifts future generations of New Yorkers.”

The design will restore the historic character of the branch while expanding public spaces, increasing daylight, improving accessibility, and creating gardens around the building.
