Marina Bay Sands Art at Every Turn

an essay by Brooke Hodge

Art and architecture is woven into a seamless experience at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The extensive arts incentive program, which mandated that a percentage of the project budget be allocated for the creation of public art, allowed for the works to be conceived at the earliest stages of the project. As a result, visitors to Marina Bay Sands encounter art immediately, in ways both monumental and subtle. Eleven site-specific art installations by seven internationally renowned artists are featured in the Art Path that moves throughout the resort.

First published in Reaching For The Sky, Brooke Hodge's Art at Every Turn: the Marina Bay Sands Art Path tells the story of the process of developing the Art Path, detailing the individual installations included in the Path from conception to installation.
