After breaking ground in 2015, the Centro Hospitalario Serena del Mar (CHSM) is beginning preliminary phases of opening to the public. 

Phase 1 includes the first two wings, comprising of 158 beds, with additional wings to be built over time as the linear structure expands with it. The hospital’s patients, staff, and families have access to a diverse variety of gardens, including a contemplative chapel in the bamboo garden, a healing garden associated with oncology treatment and lakeside gardens connected by a publicly accessible waterfront promenade. The two wings are approximately 575,870 square feet total and house various medical services.
